Gesine Marwedel

Dortmund based artist Gesine Marwedel works on realistic or surrealistic bodypainting, hennapainting and wallpainting. Before doing bodypainitngs, she painted on canvas and wood. She started to use the human body as a canvas as she found it was a good way to help people rediscover their beauty.

Marwedel is a very down to earth person with a creative mind. She was born in Eckernförde, Germany 1987. After leaving school in 2005, she worked in an Indian orphanage for some months. The experiences she had there, predetermined her future education as a physician. While in India, Gesine learned the skill of painting with henna. Indians have centuries of experience in drawing on the body.

Since 2009 she has been working as a speech-therapist. In Addition she continues to work as an artist, doing bodypainting, hennapainting, wallpainting and paintings on canvas. As you will notice, her style is mostly realistic or surrealistic. Despite the relatively good level of her art in all its forms, it remains a hobby.
